It has been a while since I have posted, I have been off doing some writing elsewhere. Happy Holidays to all my readers. I return with some good news in the form of an opportunity I would like to share with you.
I started this blog with the belief that a million-dollar portfolio is not necessary for a fulfilling and happy retirement. But, at times, some supplemental income may come in handy.
I also promised to share any opportunities that I felt would benefit my followers. Well, I have come across an interesting side hustle that can be done right from your keyboard. It won’t cost you anything, but it will require some effort.
Would an additional $400-500 per month help improve the bottom line, with the potential to increase that to a couple of thousand dollars? I have been operating this small business for 3 months now. After an initial period of qualifying for monetization (about 3 weeks more or less depending on effort) I have earned a bit over $2k. working maybe 2 hours a day over 6 weeks.
The opportunity involves writing short articles ranging from 150 to 300 words on various topics of interest. While the platform gives preference to local news articles, it is open to publishing anything within the bounds of decency. Users can share recipes, provide soap opera synopses, offer camping tips, or explore countless other topics. Additionally, some individuals choose to write about events and developments in their local communities—like I said those stories are preferred.
Whatever your expertise may be, there is a market for it.

US Flu Outbreaks: CDC Update
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its influenza map. The areas of high concentration for the flu are again generally centered in the southeast.
Louisiana continues to be in the “very high” category. In the latest data, South Carolina has been added to the very high level as well. The CDC map shows the most active areas for flu stretch from New Mexico to South Carolina.
Here are the states that show a higher than “moderate” level of flu the week ending 11/18–this is the most recent data.
Very High—Louisiana, South Carolina
High—California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida. New York City is also high, but New York State is not.
All other states are either minimal or moderate.
Here are the criteria for the rankings from the CDC.
This system monitors visits for respiratory illness that includes fever plus a cough or sore throat, also referred to as ILI, not laboratory confirmed influenza and may capture patient visits due to other respiratory pathogens that cause similar symptoms.
That’s it, granted not everything pans out as well, but if you put up enough articles, it will provide a nice supplement.
