About

Welcome to my blog, where I challenge the notion that retirement requires a hefty nest egg. Here at Senior Scoops, I believe that a fulfilling and relaxing retirement is within reach, even if you have less than $1 million saved up, or even a half-million dollars.

Retirement is not solely about the size of your bank account; it’s about living the life you’ve always dreamed of, on your own terms. My mission is to provide inspiration, guidance, and practical tips to help you make the most of your resources and retire with joy and peace of mind.

This project began after visiting several retirement groups on social media sites, where I found that the conversation often revolved around financial planning for high-net-worth families. I believe that those individuals are the exception rather than the rule, and those who have less are often left on the fringes of those discussions. Here, they will be the centerpiece.

While financial planning will have its place here, there will also be room for much more. I enjoy writing about the ways we can fill our days in retirement. There will be articles about hobbies, travel, and entertainment options. I will even discuss social media and how it influences us, as well as its absurdities.

I would like to make this a politics-free zone.

Your comments are always welcome and appreciated, so please join me as we try to figure all this out together.

My wife and I also have a YouTube station called “We’re an Open Book.”

As of now we have 2 segments “Live~Laugh~Fly” which tells our love story and so much more. It’s not always pretty but its honest.

We also have a segment “Hope from Grief” here we tell the stories of the loss of our son to cancer and the signs we have received from him, letting us know he is ok. We also tell the stories of others with similar experiences.
